Analysis of Electricity Billing System in Corporate Buildings in Lagos, Nigeria

Abstract

Purpose: This research is set to the electricity billing system in AHCN Tower, Ikeja, Lagos State with a view to providing a sustainable and efficient electricity billing system to be adopted in the facilities management of multi-­‐‑tenanted buildings. Design/methodology/approach: Relevant data for the study were gathered through an interview conducted on the stakeholders responsible for the management of the property and the occupants. The collected data were analyzed using inferential statistics. Findings/Discussion: The result revealed that the introduction of automated prepaid meters reduces the difficulties encountered in the manual system while apportioning electricity bills among the tenants. Conclusion: The study, recommends that since information technology is now global, the stakeholders in facility management practice should collaborate to secure an application program that will serve for the management of commercial buildings.
